Personal Thoughts
All things considered, this is one of my favorite collections of music I ever put together. The tracks are consistently good and imaginative. The period of my life from which it all came was without a doubt the worst stretch of my life so far. I'd run into a string of bad luck and even worse decisions with horrible results. My friends had basically abandoned me and a lot of it was recorded completely alone and basically imprisoned in that old house at 211 Pleasant Avenue in Oberlin, Ohio. It was a sort of living nightmare and I think a lot of that comes through in the music here which is important. The collection was put together shortly after beginning a new job in Akron, Ohio, which marked a major turning-point in my life. In a way, the title is simultaneously ironic and sincere.
