Capital Punishment was my first band. A two-track single and a six-track EP were released during the eight months or so that the band was together. Despite forming the band, I was kicked-out for having "a bad attitude" in the spring of 1990. In retrospect, I don't know if I had a bad attitude, but I was surely an asshole.

I got the idea to form a band when my brother brought home a video tape of his friend's band, Ghosts In Daylight, practicing at a friend's house. I specifically remember my mom suggesting that I start a band of my own, and did so probably the next day with my best friend, Jim Mumford, who had begun playing the bass guitar.

The hardest part was finding a drummer. A guy we knew, Russ Morrow, played the drums, but his favorite band was KISS, while Jim and I were into things that were a bit more metal than that. However, beggars can't be choosers and we were lucky that Russ said he'd play with us.

In the fall of 1989, we recorded a two-track single Psychopath featuring the title song and a cover of KISS' "Detroit Rock City". In the spring of 1990, we recorded a self-titled EP with 6 tracks on it.
